Northup Bid Rated Highly by House GOP Leader John Boehner

We haven’t written much about this race yet, but Anne Northup’s bid to oust John Yarmuth is getting some serious help from GOP House Leadership. Northup is the only challenger to get funding through ROMP, Minority Ldr John Boehner’s effort to target selected Congressional races for additional support. Given that the House is mostly on defense this year, the fact that Northup is the only challenger on the list facing an incumbent says something for where Boehner and crew see this race… obviously very much in play.

Also, you might want to read Bluegrass, Red State's story about Northup fundraising. Jefferson Poole, that blog’s author, has done a great job holding Yarmuth’s feet to the fire lately.

This is an important race, not only because of the national scene, but because Anne Northup is the kind of Republican who knows how to represent a district with some very poor people and to reach out and help those people without bloated government. Her work to help non-profits to help inner city folk hasn’t gotten nearly as much attention as it deserves, for example.

The inclusion of Northup on the list would make sense if ROMP stood for Retain our Minority Position.
